Effect of relative locations between internal transport barrier and <b><i>q</i></b>_min on HL-2M’s kink-ballooning stability

The significance of relative locations between the internal transport barrier (ITB) and minimum value safety factor (qmin) is proved by magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stability ITB plasma, in shaped tokamak devices. In this work, equilibria HL-2M with different qmin are generated using TOQ code, kink-ballooning stabilities respect to 1 ≤ n 20 (n toroidal mode number) simulated BOUT++ code. results show that MHD instability suppressed magnificently, when location close core, while edge. equilibrium also stabilized region negative magnetic shear. As moves toward core or edge, amplitude shear increases, gets closer shear, which benefits stability. Meanwhile, elongation surface area on strong field side expands, optimizes distribution improves
